Riverside has an excellent public train system that can take you to Los Angeles and locales in-between Riverside and Los Angeles. LA is approximately 50 miles from Riverside.
The bus system in Riverside operates during limited hours and locations, but is another efficient way of getting from your hotel to campus, and to visit Riverside’s eclectic downtown.
The nearest international airport is LAX located in Los Angeles. Shuttles are available between LA and Riverside but must be reserved beforehand.
A closer airport that is a hub for smaller airlines and limited service is Ontario Airport. Ontario Airport is approximately 30 miles from Riverside. It is also much easier to navigate and significantly less busy than LAX.

Food
Light refreshments (coffee, tea, bagels, and sweets) are available during morning sessions.
Luckily, Riverside has a few staple restaurants that are inexpensive and delicious. The following is a recommended list:

- India Sweets & Spices – go feel like a “comrade,” order from the buffet and sit down in the small cafeteria section of this unique South Asian food and giftstore; 1320 W. Blaine St. (951) 781-0560
- Best Thai Cuisine – (yes, this is the actual name), small sit-down restaurant with delicious food for a very small price; beware: CASH ONLY, 1735 Spruce St. (951) 682-4256
- Baguette Bakery and Café – huge sandwiches at a reasonable price, they carry artisanal breads, 767 W. Blaine St. (951) 788-5300
- The Getaway – literally across the street from campus, a UCR standard for pizza and beer, 3615 Canyon Crest (951) 786-3606
- Simple Simon’s – large sandwiches with crusty artisanal bread, fresh salads, CASH ONLY, 3639 Main St., (951) 369-6030

- UCR's Botanical Gardens – Located on UCR’s Campus. Wander over four miles of scenic trails or just relax on a bench and enjoy the beauty of this living plant museum with more than 3,500 plant species from around the world!
- Downtown Pedestrian Mall - open air mall with stores, the Mission Inn, coffee, restaurants (Simple Simon’s is a popular sandwich place), and the whole area is a wifi hotspot
